I understand that it can be difficult to navigate life’s challenges, especially when they involve your family. I offer specialized counseling services to help you find healing and create a new path forward. Along with talk therapy, I have expertise in trauma-focused modalities such as EMDR, which can be especially helpful for those who have experienced traumatic events. Additionally, I use Play Therapy to help children ages 3 to 12 develop important skills like problem-solving and self-regulation. My goal is to help families build stronger, healthier relationships and find the support they need to thrive.

Lived experience: Woman, cisgender, parent, immigrant, trauma, and spouse.

Modalities: Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Person-Centered. I also draw strengths from other modalities such as DBT and CBT.

Focus: ages 3 and up, families, and parents.

I pride myself on being committed to helping individuals learn to achieve the best version of themselves. My work focuses on targeting ineffective behaviors. I believe in taking a collaborative approach to helping clients reach their goals.

My past experience includes working with children, adolescents, and families. This has included being a support to individuals and families who are navigating various challenges in life.

I attended Walla Walla University where I graduated with my MSW. I also attended Heritage University where I obtained BSW. I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs in my free time.

My name is Shayla Rowlette and I am a therapist based out of Walla Walla, Washington. Being born and raised in the valley, I am familiar with the resources, and the needs, of my community and have a true passion to serve and meet these needs the best I can. I have a variety of social work experience including both inpatient/outpatient settings, crisis response team, case management, legal advocation, children’s services, and family preservation. My theoretical orientation is eclectic depending on my clients’ specific needs.
